The Glaze Table
The Glaze Table is a relaxed three-hour studio gathering for anyone with bisque-fired work ready to glaze.
We'll begin with a few demonstrations before everyone settles into their own work. After that, we'll simply see where the afternoon takes us. The conversation will be shaped by the work on the table, the questions people bring and whatever catches our interest along the way.
We might look at layering glazes, using wax resist, decorating with oxides or underglazes, different methods of applying glaze, or simply work through the glazing questions that appear on the table.
No two sessions will ever be exactly the same. The conversation will always be shaped by the work on the table and the questions people bring.

Before You Come
Please bring any work you would like to glaze at Mayfield no later than Tuesday 8 July, so it can be bisque-fired and ready for Saturday.
If you have one or two leather-hard or greenware pieces at home, feel free to bring those along as well. If the opportunity arises, we may spend some time exploring simple underglaze decoration and discuss how underglazes can later be combined with glazes.
Please Bring

- Comfortable old clothes
- Up to four bisque-fired pieces ready for glazing
- Optional: one or two leather-hard or greenware pieces if you'd like to experiment with underglazes

We'll Provide
- A selection of mid-fire and stoneware glazes
- Underglazes, oxides and wax resist

A Regular Gathering
The Glaze Table will become a regular part of studio life at Mayfield, with new dates added throughout the year.
If you miss a session, don't worry. There will be plenty of opportunities to join us in the months ahead, and because every gathering evolves a little differently, you're always welcome to come back.
